On Sunday, 7 September 2025 between 10:00 and 17:00, Forschungszentrum Jülich will open its doors to all interested visitors. Experience cutting-edge research up close and take an exclusive look behind the scenes of one of Europe’s largest research centres, which is not usually open to the public. Admission is free of charge.
On our 1.7 km2 campus, 7,500 researchers work on topics such as AI, quantum computing, hydrogen technologies, and the bioeconomy. How do supercomputers and quantum computers help in the development of AI, climate models, and new drugs? How can hydrogen technologies and innovative battery storage systems help drive the energy transition? What role do plastic-eating bacteria and sustainable cultivation methods play in the bioeconomy? And how do researchers unravel the secrets of the human brain using state-of-the-art imaging techniques? We will delve into these and many more exciting questions on Open Day. The full programme will be announced shortly before the event.
From scientific innovations to interactive hands-on experiments, there is something for everyone to discover on Open Day! For example, young people can experience the natural sciences in a playful way by taking part in a research rally, interactive experiments, and a spectacular science show. Schoolchildren and students will also have the chance to find out about career opportunities in science.
